a scar to be

a scar to be

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a scar to be

i volunteer to weep for you

so, you can carry your smile

like a bandit band-aid

covering the tears deep within your heart

the ones nobody sees

until your eyes find their color

fading and the bandage

is ripped away.

reading brings to mind the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ who took on all the pain of torture, beatings, mockery ... and death by nailing to the cross ... all for us .. your last three lines, for me are very cryptic .... i am inclined to think the key lay within them .. there is astounding beauty as "....your eyes find their color fading ...." .. in death i suppose and we finally can see the truth of our existence .. anyway ;) my mind wanders astray a lot these days. peace and joy jacob!

Thank you very much, Amanda,

you do what many fail or refuse to do, weep for those injured by life's inequalities. You put into words what all of us need to feel and see more, empathy. That feeling of we are, in so many ways, connected, and sharing in life's hardships, as well as joys. Thanks Jacob, for sharing your tears.
