Curious Things

Curious Things

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Curious Things

I thought what I wrote was art
pondered famous paintings
and not so famous paintings
thinking that was art

I looked at sculptures and graffiti
assumed it was just more art
saw magicians ply the art
of sleight-of-hand
I saw complicated cathedrals
structures displaying intricate
art in their patterns

I thought what I wrote was art
and then knocked on my new neighbor's door
he introduced himself as Art---
I was so discombobulated
so flummoxed
I returned to my house
having forgotten to ask for the cup of sugar
which was the purpose for my visit

So, I sat down at my table
took my coffee with just cream
and read some of my poetry
which I thought was art.

One who thinks all things are related to art in different scales, degree or shades he himself become an art. The issue is that he or she sails away slowly from so called real world which is not real in any means and just floats in his own world. He notices everything mostly like others but portrays in his own imagination as entirely opposite or different. The overflow of his imagination comes as art but whatever in him is just like portion of iceberg below water as in in The Great Titanic and the iceberg. Humorous but real thought provoking writing.

Nice humor. Not sure if I strive for Art, but do like to give the people in my immediate circle a laugh or a pause to reflect. ~Jim

I love ‘A la Cart.. as I view the Sculptures in the Garden Cafe. The curves of the Body seem to say… “Come dance with me as Violins 🎻 play… gently, Pat

This is cute, clever and creative. : )
It's all in how we see things !

Art is poetry in motion. I guess that's your neighbor. * Smiling *
This is wonderful in every way. : )

All life is art
We need to be an artist in our own way to be individual
We need a craft to survive life this life of ups downs
The nature is art
Even a dog or cat is art
Even the sugar you forgot to borrow is art it came from cane
Cos you forgot to buy it from the corner store with the artistic busker outside that you chatted to and forgot to buy the dam sugar from yesterday

Love your write
I love Art and Paul too btw

Well done 👍

most art is an individual effort, created in solitude with one's imagination. unfortunately, 0or fortunately, it is seen by many and judged (everyone's a critic). Both activities (the doing and the seeing) are subjective, then made objective when displayed to the world. ART, all forms, is an emotional journey, a form of communication, and without it, we would be less than human. The hard part is having your creation misunderstood. But even worse, is the harshness of the critique, and the person doing the critiquing. And neither of these are needed. The snarky, harsh comments are done by asshats who have no heart, no brains, and are cowardly know-nothings.

This is where your ARTFUL poem took me Jacob. Thanks for writing and sharing it.

Never heard of Paul Simon...but I think I remember Art Garfunkel from the movie Carnal Knowledge.
Funny how when it comes to "art" we picture some paint stained wretch starving in an attic trying to capture an image on canvas. There are many forms of art not least of which is the art of writing ... of which I believe you are a master.

Good one j.

I guess from what i get from reading this poem is that art is in the eye of the beholder. We all see art subjectively and in myriad of ways.
I enjoy your written art sir Jacob.
