a notion of...

a notion of...

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a notion of...

Heaven is the water not being turned off

Heaven is still having lights

to create shadows on the blackest nights

Heaven is turning in bed and touching you

because you are not just imagination

Heaven is turning the key

and hearing the car's engine turn over

heaven is not skidding into a ditch

and turning over

Heaven is writing a poem

that is not a disaster

Heaven is retiring

but not being a retread

Heaven is a smile on a cloudy day

posing as an umbrella

when the heavy rains fall

Heaven is creatively looking at the world

as if there were really love in it

Heaven is going to sleep with a clear conscience

and waking up to breakfast

juiced

to face the next moment approaching

without retreat.

Don’t they say heaven is how you make or what you make it. Yes, heaven is just peace of mind, maybe luck or a piece of paradise and or things going the way you want it to.

'a notion of..'
Jacob,
This following line from above poem;
"Heaven is creatively looking at the world
as if there were really love in it'
I have felt a similar theme too.
The firmament above brings unspoken
words to a tired heart. Matching our state of mind.
and then helping to move one. Beautiful poem!
Blessings,
Kathy

An exquisitely penned allegorical gem which imparts to the reader that it is the simple things in life which are the best and most treasured of all. It is the little things which give us the happiest memories and make us smile when we recall them at a future date. They are the ordinary, uncomplicated, straightforward things of everyday life and we need to acknowledge them on a daily basis to realise just how happy we are and how good our experiences for the day were. You have acknowledged ssssssoooooo all the beautiful things which take your breath away which your beautiful poetic heart is so grateful for. Wondrous write, J... Love it and I am most grateful to you for kindly sharing it... Thank you again...

Most welcome always, J...
It’s the little things that count. All those little things add up to form a bigger picture. How I love this poem dear J. It speaks to me of gratitude.

Quite the philosophical journey here. Yeah, Heaven is those little things that make life bearable in the worst of times (and, like the song says ... it IS a place on Earth). ~Jim
