in the old days when now happens again

in the old days when now happens again

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

in the old days when now happens again

the fervor

he kisses their cheers

a romantic interlude with

fanatic coupling

holding hands with eyes welded shut

the prince hides his shallow face

in a veil of distorted vision

as a country mourns its demise

wondering if there will ever be

a kingdom left to liberate

when all the honest soldiers

are lying on a field of remorse.

Just beautiful. A wider commentary on society but also such personal language and presentation. Very intelligent and thought-provoking. Great job!!!

Thank you for your words, nadia,

This has a political flavour. Ordinary people have had enough. Draconian measures are in place. What comes next? The troops on the street? Civil unrest is both ugly and tragic.

I don't believe there are any honest soldiers or heroes. There's only ordinary people thrust into extraordinary situations where survivors garner the guilt of living as a medal to themselves. But as long as there exist those who would take what they want there must be a resistance in those laboring to the same ends. We have laws in civilized society to prevent these physical trespasses but eventually laws must be enforced or they are of no use. Illegal means against the law and should not be tolerated in a civilized society. Infractions grow in the absence of consequences. And so the troops get sent in.

dearest Jacob... the Heavens thunder and Lightening strikes... we are at the Mercy of the Rock of Ages. The uncertainty of floods and tornadoes will give us Reason to mend our Ways in the Land of the Free. Every Knee will Bend as we Pray for Miracles to appear. softly, Pat
