a cloud sometimes blocks a view

a cloud sometimes blocks a view

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a cloud sometimes blocks a view

the sky is a bit brighter now

there is a new star joined

in the massive brilliance

he was light in the shadows of friendship

a chuckle that so easily poured its liquid

into the gold of life

a voice over the wire that reminded

us of a certain kindness

bones of gentleness

he was always that star

even amongst the galaxy

that was life on earth

now a distant glow

that still lingers in proximity

and always will.

This is beautiful, I especially love the 1st stanza and the line, "he was always that star"

Thank you, Amanda,
j.
A smile; a hug, a handshake, a kind word, a helping hand, are too little things that we should know to believe we are not alone; not one against the world, while we have an ally, a brother, a sister or a friend. It can be a set of soft paws and a cool wet nose nuzzling our cheek. Wherever we find comfort and those people who make us comfortable in our own skins, we are in the company of kindred souls. But sometimes it's those who make us uncomfortable; who challenge our ideals and bring us new perspectives, who educate and bear our ignorance patiently that we owe our internal growth to. This poem is such a sweet gesture from a loving heart of appreciation. And love is always a beautiful thing.

I appreciate your kind words,

Some people walk in and out of our lives without leaving a lasting impression, while other leave heart prints all over our heart as the person to whom the poem is about, did. A beautiful tribute to your friend, straight from your heart, it tells of friendship pure and blessed and many memories made along the path of friendship. Lovely work! Thank you for sharing J...

Most welcome always, J...
It can often construct weird feelings, emotions, when you talk of someone you knew. It's happened to me, and no doubt to many of us. Thank you, J.

I believe you alluded to this person in a recent review. We lose many people in our lives, but some leave bigger gaps than others. My condolences.

Now Jacob I have always loved your poems but there is something special about this one. Your word choice lets the brilliance of emotion shine through the letters on the page. There is a glow of mastery here. This is one of those poems that I wish I had written. It left me in ah of it's splendor. "light in the shadow of friendship" "a chuckle that so easily poured its liquid into the gold of life" "bones of gentleness" Few poems contain that many good lines. Brilliant!
