a smile tenders its resignation

a smile tenders its resignation

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a smile tenders its resignation

lying composed

she is the song of undeniable beauty

inside, the intermittent rays of light

take turns with the shards of broken dreams

that caustically caress her spirit

She is love

but also distance

when her heart is in ephemeral state

his dream, her dream, their dream

encased in urnish closure

the bond still wakes her in the night

as she reaches to wrest the sovereign sadness

from her being

his dream, her dream, their dream

love stays

sadness checks in

but her beauty shines through

the darkness of her life

and for others she is a beacon

of hope

that a life for two

can still find its way

in solo fashion

two spirits locked in step

when love throws away the key.

How many people have the broken dreams that give off such shards? Nicely put, Jacob. I do like it.

Unity as well as independence two sides of the same coin. The Yin and yang of being. Indeed lock and key one no good without the other Loved it

Not sure how you make me feel the emotions I do when the subject pulls one way, and your tone another.
When a writer does more with less, that signifies, to me at least...
You have an understanding of imperceptible bias, both yours and the readers.
This left a less than caustic caress on my knowledge of how to evoke feeling with words.

Thank you for your kind review, pennylate,

Great depiction of how conflicting parts of life can be, how sadness can creep into even the happiest things, so poetic, so beautiful and raw. "the bond still wakes her in the night" is a great line.

Jacob,
A eulogy would be a hard thing to write if they did not come so naturally out of the ashes...
