not room enough in the confessional

not room enough in the confessional

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

not room enough in the confessional

i loved you

and promised you the world

in the back of the Oldsmobile

as we unhooked, unzipped

and then fear stopped us

like a crack of thunder

and a hard rain that just threatened

but never appeared

we glanced at each other

the next day as our pews aligned

our souls regretted the temptation

but our hearts yearned

for another Saturday night to come soon.

Wow... I remember how passionate Romance can be... I cried just because I was Smitten with a Guy who was simply discovering the Force of Nature. We need to remember there must be discovery before there is a Cure. Madame Curie would agree. gently, Pat

Great distances between the heart and mind. Love means more alignment but that may happen later maybe.

That all too real struggle between religious morals and the temptation of lust was palpable in the short lines. You've conveyed it well.

You’re very welcome, and good morning
Contraceptives were not easily obtained back in the day so it was sort of Russian roulette in a way and there was a lot of shame if the poor lass got pregnant so young.yes! Consequences! Nicely done J.

Can't hitch anymore Jacob. So they tell me. Cheers.
You reflect that period in time so well here j. The heat of the moment governed by fear of consequences. A very relatable write this will be for many. Penned to perfection my friend.

All young adults get lost in the hrat of passion and mistake it for love. I know I did once

Dear Jacob, you have captured 'First Love' superbly in this very warm, tender poem. Fear... That dreaded deterrent we all experienced at a very inappropriate moment and made us stop before we had begun! Love the title, it drew me in to read the poem. Looking back to yesterday, how innocent we were back then, but I guess those were innocent times. Hope your love was shared with each other on another Saturday night, without guilt or fear of any kind. I love this poem, Jacob! It speaks for many who are our age and you captured those times superbly...
Jacob, due to an update in my computer last Sunday evening, I had a few problems afterwards. My passwords disappeared and I couldn't get them back, but was able to sort the other things. I tried to reset my password on the site but instead of sending a link to the email address on my account they sent the link on a temporary email to a domain which I cannot access. I emailed Admin, I contacted Admin through a link I found on the Internet, but did not receive a reply. Wanting to be back on the group and missing my friends, I had to create another account. It seems I have lost access to my old account forever, sadly. Will send you a Friend Request now. Thank you, dear friend...+

young love unravels one Sat. at a time .. resisting temptations is not easy and by it's own definition .. requires persistent commitment to something more rewarding .. your poem brings to mind more than one humorous story about Confessionals ... especially that first one :)
