Up There

Up There

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Up There

old sneakers in the attic

feet still in them

fossilized forevers

he walked a good life

wrote it all down

spilled it into locked boxes

his business

his life

reading his poems

is for the angels

they keep secrets

Why do we always stow our memories in the most uncomfortable room in the house? This brought many images alive for me.

Thank you for your kind review, Philip..

All kinds of unusual things are found when somebody passes away, J. Many treasures are found in the attic and some are not to be shared with others, but fed into the flames of a lovely fire while sending love to the person to whom they belonged. I love how you say that the Angels keep secrets! They do indeed, dear poet. Thank you for sharing. I so enjoyed reading. It reminded me of when my Mam died and clearing up all her personal belongings. A very difficult thing to do...

That must have been really interesting looking back.
dear Jacob... we moved into a House where our Guardian Angels flutter and guide our days. There is a Healing in the Air where flowers dream. Amen, Pat

An obituary to a life well lived. I hope the angels understand his poems, if not people in life. Well written.

I get the feeling this one is about someone well known who is also no longer with us. A name eludes me, though.

not so-well known,
thank you, John,

I like the idea of angels keeping secrets for protection. Who knows the wonders in those locked boxes or the treasure therein.
Marvelous and impact-full.

You are welcome sir Jacob.
Thank God the angels keep our secrets. I think my angel can be seen on a regular basis scratching her head! ; )

Lol, I don't think so!
I am sure angels must love poetry and keep, the words safe for evermore ... maybe special angels watch over poets to protect their secrets from the stars who might be watching from afar ?

I like this philosophy....better if they could keep the words safe...
Thank you,
