Let it Be

Let it Be

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Let it Be

hot chocolate nights
serenity is a loose fitting sweater
of ennui

the expected
the secure
marshmallow kisses

in tandem with
film noir
popcorn moments

mid-summer
anxious heat
hands confused

boredom a welcomed friend
love a scary adversary
better to just walk together

moonlight exchanges
Words
poetic endeavors

embraces are syllables
that may or may not connect
when the time warrants

we do.

could this be a teenage summer fling from yesteryear? ..let's do anything so that we're not bored....sex maybe, an outdoor movie? that's what use to be... now to many of us boredom isn't bad; it gives us a chance to pause in our busy lives....to breathe to ponder... a new beginning?

This is very nice with a quality of pubescent innocence and wonder. The mysteries of sex and love are still unexplored but vaguely recognized as dangerous and scary places to explore. It speaks of simpler times and maybe of an age when we are all more innocent with our best intentions prevailing in our reasoning. I very much enjoyed this offering, Jacob. It took me back to my first crushes and all that hormonal insecurity. It's nothing scary to an old man, of course, but, looking back, perhaps we should have been even more terrified. (laughing) F.

"... boredom a welcomed friend". Sometimes nothing fills a night more perfectly than some boredom (and old episodes of "Dateline"). Nice write. ~Jim

You are welcome Jacob.
Enjoyed the film Noir. I had to imagine myself in a movie theater, Coke and popcorn in hand.
I think we owe you for the ticket prices sir Jacob.
