I have never been much for fishing (probably because I can't seem to catch anything, my brother and I have a running joke that all the fish are just sleeping every time we try) but now I kind of want to reconsider an attempt. This was such an unexpected analogy, but it was so good. And you really used every part of it, like you didn't just stop at 'gone fishing', you kept it up right through the cleaning, cooking, and eating. I really enjoyed this.
dearest Jacob… I just discovered that you are having another Healing at the Hospital… so typical of you to write a Poem about “Gone Fishing” which I think is one of your best Metaphors ever. Our Prayers are ascending for You and the Weather is full of beautiful white Clouds and blue skies of Hope and ❤️ Love… tenderly, Pat

Gone Fishing instead of Kissing the Blues away. Got my Tackle and my Worms… waiting for Huckleberry Finn to arrive. Writing poetry can wait at the Garden Gate. softly, Pat
clever things make me giggle. this one made me chuckle and laugh. it's like "do not read this line," or "do not think of a white elephant." "no poem here" says the first line of this clever poem. very "meta": a poem about poems...a snake thinking about snakes as it's biting its own tail. i'm afraid i disregarded the warning about taking small bites only. i devoured the whole thing and wished there were more.
Jacob!
I am SO lost without fishing... specifically surf casting. There is some beauty in the long sweep of rod as it arcs across the sky to toss bait and weight as far as possible, then backward up the beach to sit and wait, eyes sharp for that hint of a tug.
That time in the sun, waiting for just the right word to tear off your line, you pull, it pulls you reel, it runs... Well sorry, you've already sait it... and better.

How did I wind up so far from what I love the most?
if you inhale the scent
of the poems frying
after being critically panned
Such delightful words, dear Jacob. A poem is truly like catching a fish, filleted, fried and cooked and eaten, a small bite first. How it simmers sometimes, if panned. Such wonderful metaphors can come only and only from you!
