Kiss

Kiss

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Kiss

a backlog of truant messages

the heart's inbox swollen

with evangelical rumblings

of God

and survival

and love finding its pedestal

broken, withered, succinctly written in poetic

fabrications

I believe in someone up there

and used to

in someone down here

standing next to me,

touching my hand

clasping the words of my soul

she is dangling her lips

so near me

but in an instant

the window closes

and I can  remember

absolutely nothing

of what we had.

I can feel the frustration in this Jacob, memories of such deep love that surface and then are stolen from you as you lean into them ... a cruel pain to the soul...

Thank you for your kind review, Stella,

Love, love, love reaching a pinnacle and thud a sudden fall. You cannot remember anything. Crushing yet emerging in love. So deep, so intense.

dear Jacob… our mind and body is evangelical .. the mental and the physical… to feel Joy and pain. The wisp of a gentle Breeze… Sigh… Pat

Thank so much for your words, Pat,

The closing of a window has a complete finality to it. The love lost and gone. And earthly departure or maybe just a relationship departure. Either way the last few lines of this poem sum it up with a completeness that is stark and profound.

Wow, j. The closed window ending and so abruptly. So much emotion in this piece. A short lived experience with no memories. Pretty devastating.

I’m starting to believe that we may have lived before
I often wake from a dream being with people I’m close to so so close to and happy with but then awake and realise I don’t know them or haven’t met them here in this life
Your poem reminds me of this
Loved it

Really interesting what you said here, Julie...
thank you for your words,

Oh my gosh this is so good. I love this poem so much. The second stanza is beautiful and intelligent, the third is so alive and honest. I really like this. I love the connection to religion, to the feeling of loss, to the momentary grief. Amazing work.

You're welcome 🙂
Wow or Ow, that must have been some tight fitting, dark tinted window. I like where this started out but felt cut short by the abrupt ending of the memories. Once again though, your talent has amazed me for year and probably will for years to come.
