a ripple of existence

a ripple of existence

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a ripple of existence

I skipped a stone across the pond

but the splash made the pond disappear

just an empty crater left

everything disappeared

as if I never existed

and the stone is still skipping

onto a new plane

where I, as of yet, am not invited

so I sit on the shore shuffling thoughts

pondering the pond that was

the I who was

and poem billows in the sand of life.

Thank you, Pat,

How did I miss this gem? So Buddhist in nature this poem dives deep into that pond. Even a skipping rock of thought can change an entire paradigm and leave one pondering between plains on the sands of life. So many possible metaphors in this poem as all good philosophical tho9ughts it is open to many interpretations. The sands of life become the sands of time, the pond that becomes a crater the very skipping rock. The style of its writing gave it a special feel as if being taught by a master. A most beautiful piece that I am so glad I found.

Thank you for your kind review, Soren,

Sometimes life feels like an illusion. As if we aren't real. All that we did or achieved was a dream that quickly passed away and we scatter as sand in the wind, not finding a plane. This is what I felt, reading the poem and its very sad. This poem is very beautiful, my friend.

thank you, Jim...
still skippin'
Such a creative dream like poem j. I sense a certain frustration and uncertainty here. Your work is not done. You are not ready to meet your maker. He is giving you that message.

Plenty dear friend. You ain’t done yet.
Wow Jacob. This is immensely beautiful and moving. There's so much to unpack here and so many layers. It's also more about what you haven't said that what you have, which to me is great poetry. I'm busy filling in the blanks with my own life experiences. As it should be.
