storms of a different nature

storms of a different nature

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

storms of a different nature

the howling wolves

match the cries

of the wayward tornado

imparting cuts and wounds

turning homes to ruin

leaving homeless pedestrians

to fend from falling trees

nature implodes within

human anguish exudes

the wolves advance

towards the carcass

of broken windows

severed siding

roofs unable to stop the rain

holes in the resolve

this happens too many times

like bad love

gaps in the weather

gaps in relationships

I hear the wolves

and cry

for the innocents

who have become prey.

Such a great metaphor Jacob. I moved to Oklahoma just after the great tornado that passed through Oklahoma City clearing a mile wide swath. I lived in the shadow of tornados for years but was lucky enough not to experience one. I have walked though many hurricanes in Florida but none cast the fear of a tornado. Circular winds of 200 to 300 miles an hour where nothing can stand. Like circling wolves they give no warning until too late you hear their howl. And the likening of them to relationships is an uncanny realism we all live with.
"I hear the wolves
and cry
for the innocents
who have become prey.:
Such an ending to a master crafted poem. I stand in ahh.
