Flight 777

Flight 777

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Flight 777

Do flight attendants

serve drinks

on planes bound for heaven

or does God want perfectly clear thinking

from those negotiating the gate?

Wine works wonders for the soul

it is served for communion

at the altar bar

do sinners know the combination of the gate lock?

Who paid for the tickets?

Blood, sweat and fears

the hymn book opened wide

eyes burning red with dread

so we act Christian

just to get the pass

the takeoff from the womb

may have turbulence

but is the landing safe

is the gate too rusted for some to open?

Where is heaven's landing strip?

In Iowa?

and where is that flight attendant?

I need another sip from the chalice

calms the nerves.

I often think of 666, that number of the wild beast (mind you, if it's upside down and we dial 999 here in the UK we get the cops!). Nice thoughts here, Jacob, as always.
