Flight 777

Flight 777

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Flight 777

Do flight attendants

serve drinks

on planes bound for heaven

or does God want perfectly clear thinking

from those negotiating the gate?

Wine works wonders for the soul

it is served for communion

at the altar bar

do sinners know the combination of the gate lock?

Who paid for the tickets?

Blood, sweat and fears

the hymn book opened wide

eyes burning red with dread

so we act Christian

just to get the pass

the takeoff from the womb

may have turbulence

but is the landing safe

is the gate too rusted for some to open?

Where is heaven's landing strip?

In Iowa?

and where is that flight attendant?

I need another sip from the chalice

calms the nerves.

the chalice you speak of is sacred, jacob ... all are welcome .. but receiving it with a darkened heart will only heap the reap upon us ... Flight 777 the number of perfection in old testament Jewish teacings ...the Boeing 777 born in 1990 and morphed more than several times .. seats 10 abreast and powered by just two motors ... mishaps recently are concerning ... i see that you wrote this last year ... glad you reposted .. certainly relevant ... we age and think more often of beyond the grave .. i regret not having had such a focus at a much younger age .. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matt. 6:19-21 .. rust stays on earth my friend ... not in Heaven ;)))))))the gates swing wide if we only believe and follow.

A tragic event indeed. We pray for the family of the victims to give them solace. Could have been averted.

So true and well articulated. You are welcome sir Jacob.
Who knows where and when we will be called home ?
A terrible accident, an unaccountable mistake, just bad timing as in this case Jacob .....
No time to say goodbye ..

If heaven has gates, so it is a gated community. If have has alcohol, so it is a famous bar.
If heaven has poetry, Jacob will be teacher.

Very deep philosophical thoughts here ... Hope you're not planning on flying away anytime soon ... I gos beer and whiskey right here, and I do share freely, so please do stick around ...

I can't stand either beer or whiskey, but thanks for the offer, Marve.

I think the answer would be relative to the Pilot and the condition of our plane of existence. But there is this advice from Bathsheba, "Give strong drink to him who is perishing, And wine to him whose life is bitter." Proverbs 31:6 I no longer imbibe but I have drank about everything that contains alcohol at one point or another. Mostly I see that it makes men fools and ugly women prettier. ;)

In my world, no one gets to heaven...yet this is a wonderful spoof on religion...and how we get to heaven's gate...on a 777? i don't thing so... but as always you create these incredibly inventive ways and always there is a cynicism woven in, especially on religion....
Love it!
Warmly, B
