I can't stand either beer or whiskey, but thanks for the offer, Marve.

I think the answer would be relative to the Pilot and the condition of our plane of existence. But there is this advice from Bathsheba, "Give strong drink to him who is perishing, And wine to him whose life is bitter." Proverbs 31:6 I no longer imbibe but I have drank about everything that contains alcohol at one point or another. Mostly I see that it makes men fools and ugly women prettier. ;)

In my world, no one gets to heaven...yet this is a wonderful spoof on religion...and how we get to heaven's gate...on a 777? i don't thing so... but as always you create these incredibly inventive ways and always there is a cynicism woven in, especially on religion....
Love it!
Warmly, B

I wish I could be less than cynical....but yes, I am.

Flight to heaven and do they serve wine? Good question for I I’m terrified of flying but I’m hoping this flight is different.
I love the idea and creativeness penned in this poem. I can see nervous people on a plane sipping from a silver chalice which holds the sweetest wine to help calm their nerves as they wait for the destination of heavens gate

Smiles it’s amazing what images get conjured up in my brain when I read
I’ve never travelled well. Have always needed a bit of Dutch courage before a flight. I don’t suppose it will be any different on flight 777. And if the landing and the gates are troublesome, well I’ll just have to have another and keep my fingers crossed. (Medicinal vino, of course)
God negotiating the pearly gates with the disembarked is a very evocative image. There is a linear increase in religiosity and number of unanswerable questions at any given time. Like throwing in the towel on a home renovation and saying "f**k it, lets call a professional, this is above my pay grade." The gate being too rusted to open is another great image, either it opened more freely at a point in time or we lost the recipe for its lubrication and must pay the price. Heaven's landing strip is indeed, yes, the place where there's nothing but subsidized corn and more importantly the start of the presidential campaign cycle. What absolute aaaangels live in Iowa!
