slain

slain

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

slain

it was a high coo

in the morning sunrise

until the dove bit the dust

and another nation fell

and demise crept closer

as talons limped

a symbol learning how to walk

because it can no longer fly

countries look on

the aviary is cluttered with molted feathers

Peace between the wings

is a fiasco

the birds are spinning in grief

humans suffer oblivion

as the Eagle crashes into

earth it has shaped for itself

the landing gear

dissuaded by selfish chaos

democracy is the prey

and it got away.

The dove is key to this , symbolic of peace and yet we keep clipping its wings .... how cruel and downright evil we humans can be at times :(

Yeah, the eagle has not landed. Seems like things are going to get worse either way. ~Jim

Thank you for your words, Jim,

This is a write that no matter where you stand politically can be felt. The dove shot is a loud statement of peace being lost. Parties fighting, people hating for differences in political options. Politician corrupt as usually fight amongst each other not accomplish anything for they only care about their own pockets. The Eagle wounded and limping crashing to earth with all the disarray and chaos surrounding the great nation.

The images are spot on and reveal what a tragedy it truly is and how sad the state this great nation is in

That is certainly true
Your use of the dove in this piece is brilliant and the eagle unfortunately has landed on the wrong side of peace.

we cant' even save ourselves. let alone other countries who need us; we are crippled like the hawk....and our country is heading towards chaotic fascism ....we must repair our broken society back to democracy....
and let the hawk fly...freedom....wonderful metaphors as always

And we know well
the road to Hell
has been paved and converted
and utterly perverted
by do-gooders.

So far from the Summer of Love
not far enough away from' 62.

You speak a sad truth my friend.

I believe we have lost our way.

No truer words has been spoken sir Jacob; we are trying to save democracy but I see a nuclear war on the horizon that will destroy humanity and democracy.
They went about handling Russia, Ukraine and Israel, Palestine in the most wicked and short-sighted ways; oh, well!
There are better ways to solve things, bring just and fair peace along with justice, but the powers that be don't like those ways; many industries rely on wars and their huge profits.

Freedom is under threat as never before. Democracy must prevail. We are living in dark times. We all want that dove of peace.
