Visual under-stated understanding at first, gradually stanza by stanza reaping raw truths that finish with both silent scream and ironic pessimism.
Truth is Man lives in a world he created: generation by generation making messes that - like forms of -acid, have gradually poisoned our planet and continue to do so.
Tragically true and becoming worse:
'a cumulative cumulus
an aborted resurrection
an ironic ascension
into this manmade hell.'
Your poems - whatever you post, can strike fear or sweet gentility in turn, sir.
I never imagined I'd live in a world that set us back the way a certain former U.S. president did. Or the Russia/Ukraine situation. Peace comes round in cycles. It doesn't last. Truly a man made hell, yet those responsible are blind to reason.

Yes, Anita, most definitely set back.
thank you,

A comment, I think, on the current state of world affairs. The first verses feature images of separation, such as "the world in fissure." Later verses mention the conflicts as reported on the news, which offers no relief to our stressed out minds. The speaker finds little to comfort us in this "manmade hell." I wish I could offer a counter argument. Maybe the results on election day will cheer us up.
Yes if you were an alien you wouldn't want to holiday here. It's strange how we quarrel and fight amongst ourselves( human species) and expect aliens to be friendly. Yes the way things are going the circumference may drop a belt size or two.
The reference to Dylan just sent me into a snicker ... yeah, the world seems to be tangled up in a particular shade of brown right now. I really do not see that changing for a long while ... we haven't bottomed out yet. Anyhow, great venting here. ~Jim
Jacob,
In the first few stanzas, i was reminded of the sky here over the Great Plains. There are many days when there is nothing but a giant bubble of blue so deep, you can see the black on the other side. Then come th chemtrails firs one blemish, then crossed by another and another all morning, so by the afternoon the entire sky is white with whatever they've done.
My second thought was about the Modernists in their desperate attempt to pull the fragments together and make some kind of new sense of the Western world. Didn't work. We're still lost as a people, now faced once again with the possibility of "Mutually assured destruction." WE barely survived the last go-round when world leaders were strong and easily defined. The nice part about being a nihilist, is if there is no hope, why worry? Eat the good food, drink the wine, dance the night away, and laugh pout loud at every opportunity.
(I do not watch the news, only check the headlines to see if we need to take some food and water and go underground.... so far, so good)

So many have given up on watching the news...never anything good.

I wish there was a vaccine we could give the whole world. It would be anti=hate. Yes, the nightly news is quite depressing lately. It is absolutely a "manmade hell" out there. "Pitch blue sky" is such a great phrase. Jacob, your poetry is always excellent. Even the alliteration of your title is super. Lydi**
