Far longer than usual, but truly - a metaphorical feast, jacob. How finely and appropriately you play your words, making them near sing along to each other. Would hitchhike across Europe to tell a tale the way you do, sir!
(In my youth, would hitchhike if essential; my boots are still dubbed and ready!)

Trust and loyalty can be dirty words at times.. so sad. My parents, my grandparents used to invite strangers in if they needed warmth; rear gates would be left unlocked, apples would be left in containers for a small donation.. Last year I left a bucket of apples out in the same circumstances- the bucket/fruit was taken wholesale but no pennies! As to hitchhiking, a dirty word in so many ways.. Who can we trust, hand on heart, jacob?.
A fabulous metaphor here J. Hitchhikers may well turn out to be dangerous. I have many hitchhikers, but all mine are known to me and don’t pose any threats. I stick with the inspiration and drive carefully and am more than happy when the destination is reached and the poem completed. I saw you in the driver’s seat. You aren’t comfortable with the he in the rear view mirror. Great write my friend.
