stainless steel Hamlet

stainless steel Hamlet

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

stainless steel Hamlet

knaves eat the knives

of logic

swift sharp blades

twisted

in the belly of reason

I sharpened one for you

watch you don't cut your tongue

bleed words you might regret.

Yikes. Note to self, never piss off Jacob, he might write a vindictive poem about you :P

Great work, as always

The last lines seem to be good advice for Mr. Trump. Of course, he never regrets anything.

and never curbs his tongue...it just keeps burning rubber.
You know Jacob, in so far as human history goes, I think the temptation to knife our enemies has probably far outweighed the desire for peace. Peace, generally speaking, is only sought after by the non-combatants that don't have a horse in the race either way - the innocents, the bystanders, victims.

The people doing the fighting, well, they have every reason to knife each other - each as justified as the other and committed to exacting their satisfaction, or their objective, even if that objective is just to survive it.

And I think to myself, how strange would it be if the leaders of the world, despite their sense of reason, or all other inclinations, fought that urge to win as hard as they fight their wars and just put their f*****g knives away?

I think it would defy human nature itself - and I see John Lennon's waspy, circular lenses - but Christ, eh? How much better off we'd probably be.

Anyways, appreciate the opportunity to read - I suspect you've been missed, in your absence of late.

All the best to you,

-Ook

Thank you for your insightful words, Ook.

Really sharp metaphor here J. The title is excellent. Better to cage words that might later cause regret in my opinion. So easy to lash out and words can make mighty weapons. Wounds that don’t heal.

Can't be more relatable right now. Lately I've been practicing mindfulness while speaking after bleeding countless words I regret. Indeed a 2 edged sword. I think it's never too late to change. Really nice writing.
