Senryu 1964 Senryu 2024

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Senryu 1964

the mountain is high

peace climbing to the apex

Martin Luther's dream

Senryu 2024

mountain exploded

avalanche of hate released

Martin's dream shattered

I would love to be the blinders-wearing optimist who argued with this piece, but I can't. Brilliant. ~Jim

It is sad Jacob. We have fell backwards. Powerful and worthwhile words and thoughts shared my friend. I would believe. Martin Luther king Jr. would be disappointed in this world.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since '64, especially in the last nine years. The contrast between the two senryus reflects the grim changes that have occurred.

We had Wars... now it is wicked to the Core. I was in my twenties
when Martin Luther King was our Inspiration. Now we are in Shock
that the Beast is at our Door. sadly, Pat
