Warriors of a Different Breed

Warriors of a Different Breed

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Warriors of a Different Breed

we bare,

share

smite with write

a brigade

of words made

to drop bombs

with aplomb

poets show it

like guests unmasked

at the costume ball

we show it all

and hope to attain refrain

some legacy

left

with deft pen

dripping ink

not blood

in a flood

of love

soldiers of modesty

Rich in themes

not dreams

of conquest

or travesty

but holding on

to each other's

flight of fancy

defined

by that which

fills a page

in kind.

Words made to drop bombs and there are plenty using language to incite hatred and whip up warfare. At least a poet only spills ink and bleeds metaphorically. The other type of warrior creates carnage and not on the page either. A thought provoking write dear J.

Jacob,

'Tis true that the pen is mightier than the sword, bot it is words which do incite men to war and violence as testimony to our common responsibility to the world as those who are Poets. Poignant write here.
