Orange Confusion

Orange Confusion

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Orange Confusion

in the realm
of what is
and what's not
the boundaries expand
senility is a convict
attempting a breakout
scaling the walls
of boredom
the pictures on the plaster
get younger

his mind aches
youth is the guard
that shoots him down
before he can devise
a lucid plan
to keep dementia
at bay.

And dementia is interesting. And, oh, if we can keep it at bay! Nice one, J.

Thank you, Andrew...

The theme of ageing and dementia is always explored in the most interesting and unique ways, author Jacob.
As one grows with age and wisdom becomes dust; The once wise mind becomes a cell sealing logic away from our grasp, how queer.
Thank you for sharing your work, author Jacob. I wish you a nice day.

the only solace might be in not realizing that we even had it. sometimes i think the whole world has gone mad. the best laid plans of mice and men ... :)

I love ❤️ your thank you… I eat Cookies a lot when writing Poetry… softly, Pat
I worked with many demented people during the hospital phase of my career. Indeed, it is like being in prison for them. Short term memory is shot, thought processes continually eroding. Thus they can't devise a plan "to keep dementia at bay."

Excellent words J. To portray a difficult subject matter….the one thing I don’t want to happen to me is dementia….. and if it does, well hopefully I’ll be in “La La land”I love the line “ senility is a convict”
Warmly

senility is a convict
waiting to break out

such powerful words j, and so meaningful too in the aging process.

Nowadays policemen always look so young to me.
