the lid is opening

the lid is opening

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the lid is opening

draw the curtains in fear

love is outside

the window of approval

our hearts in vampire fashion

repel the light of strong feelings

what's at stake is love

but the bold cross endeavors

to sever

so we wake

to a valid amnesia

introducing ourselves

to one another.

Thank you, Amanda,

Love these lines:

our hearts in vampire fashion
repel the light of strong feelings
what's at stake is love
so we wake
to a valid amnesia
introducing ourselves
to one another.

Hope you're having a wonderful holiday season
"the lid is opening" but the box ie empty ... nothing appears in the mirror but the reflection of a haggard face and tears. A cross can be too much to bear & in the throes of amnesia we introduce our selves over and ove, unable to settle on love.

Oh, those blood-sucking babes who only want to be loved. More garlic, Jacob?

What a great write. Yes love is out there but so is false hopes, breakups, shattered dreams. Safer to buckle down for the night.

So do we fear what we don't see? Um maybe so.
There is some love out there but where I don't know.
Then I got to the part of amnesia I felt sad.

This is a really good write.

Thank you, Meg.
Such a clever write. Great title again. Fabulous extended metaphor J. Smiling at all the vampire references.

draw the curtains in fear
love is outside

Who would have thought that amnesia could be welcome.

Your poetry rocks. I just heard Lennon singing give peace a chance, or maybe that should be give love a chance.

Thank you for your kind words, Chris.

oh, I love vampire love poetry, it never dies and never gets old!!!! er... once again I miss your intent as you talk of "light", "stakes", and "crosses", all the death of vampires, and love... I don't know, Jacob, sometimes, as I toss and turn in a bed of lonely, I wish for amnesia... much easier than constantly closing that coffin lid... one thing for sure, your pen is not dead...
