mechanical destinyA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
too
many dead poems rise
from tombs of
flawless writing not a
punctuation mark mis-interred not a
thought breathing life a
closed coffin coffered as the
syllables decompose and
still sound perfect no
human fingers touch the pen cats
are declawed poets
dehumanized both
defenseless against
the elements of style semantics
is the modernization of society we
come to terms with ourselves being
themselves being
stoically acclimated to
telling pretentious stories without
a clue to what matters the
heart of it all the
one that used to beat with love and
true feeling before
we unplugged it and
left creativity a burned out circuit in a
closet of dusty relics. erin-cilberto 11/25/23 © 2023 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
