Say Goodbye to Lovely

Say Goodbye to Lovely

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Say Goodbye to Lovely

Stonehenge is lovely

as a monument

Stonewall is ugly

as rejection's firmament

Two people standing still together

no forward movement

not torn down either

but an eyesore

a heartsore

a future growing moss

upon its state of ruination

with insinuation

that all landmarks of the heart

do not age well in photograph.

I see a wedding photograph here. The future doesn’t bode well for the newly married couple. Nothing solid. No rock of ages. Our Stonehenge a monument of everlasting. Defying all weathers, all seasons. That word Stonewall to me, reminds me of an Organisation that has somehow crept into all our major institutions in the UK and changed for the worse what was once balanced. A once delicious apple now bruised and wormed. Strong imagery here and leaving me restless. Change is not always for the better. I like rock. It doesn’t crumble. Fine writing dear J.

There must be a reason Rock of Ages is a hymn and not a photograph.
