What Lives inside Us

What Lives inside Us

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

What Lives inside Us

the catastrophic lies

breed phobia's mass intentions

we insinuate

and madness perpetuates

it surrounds us like a moat

keeping happy surrender at bay

love is a cornice

visible only to the ghosts of freedom

we imprison ourselves

in greed, power, unholy wars

the charismatic leaders slain

the world is blood red

our castles become our cells

and then we disappear

into an elegant vanishing

as the drawbridge raises

and our existence is sealed.

I tried, in vain, to put some thoughts down on the 60th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination, and much of what I'd like to say is expressed beautifully in this poem. Kudos on another good write. ~Jim

I liked the below lines Jacob.
"the charismatic leaders slain
the world is blood red
our castles become our cells
and then we disappear"
The above lines. The hard truth my friend. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

So Sad … when Mad Leaders plan our early demise. They will feel the Sky reward their Evil 😈 Deeds when Kingdoms Drums sound and they will suffer their consequence. Pat

The world seems to be entering one of those periods where we think raising the bridge will keep us safe but all it does is make us prisoners.
