the pleasure of silence

the pleasure of silence

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the pleasure of silence

the diamond shone

thought it was forever

set in stone

found out the moss had grown

where a love was over

set in stone

and a walk in the graveyard

of dead passion

set in stone

I saw our names etched with a date

and remembered our first

set in stone

the fingers now just bone

forever is a haunting figure walking

where the diamond once shone

set in stone.

What is stone but - a place of protection? Your words stretch time from their beginning to - their never ending, with infinite meaning.. with infinite silence. Such a beautifully laid tragedy, sir jacob..

Thank you for your kind review, em.

This one speaks to me of a love so precious, forevermore... and yet, the bittersweet serenade of a lonely heart when the other half is missing. There are those who will say that it's only temporary at best and that one day, you and your beloved will be together again for all eternity.

Such a beautiful and comforting thought. Thanks for sharing with us out here...

I wonder of that....thank you, Alisa,
appreciate your words,
j.
Such sadness conveyed in these words and the image painted. Mourning love's loss is a difficult one. This is one that many will be able to relate to. You have told this story so well and so hauntingly.

dearest Jacob… our Treasures on Earth become stepping Stones to a more friendly environment. .. where Lillies are planted against Stone where epitaphs are written… and not forgotten. Softly, Pat

A fantastic write Jacob
When we are young we are different people but we evolve change grow with the years hopefully for the better

The way I think now I never thought these thoughts at age say 19 or 2o

The diamond on her finger maybe be- longed in another time place and there it will stay forever etched in time like a stone or rock.

It’s sad to see break ups. I know I’ve had a two separations then one divorce and a few other break ups after that

thank you for your words, Julie,

Mourning the marriage but thankful for the silence. When two can no longer speak without a war starting, there has to be a solution. Sometimes things can’t be fixed and it is better that they break. Better to remember when the diamond shone brilliantly than when it lost its sheen. The graveyard is a most appropriate setting J.

Relatable for many, I do believe. So expertly conveyed. Wonderful poetry.

This read like an epitaph, the stone, a reminder of what was but also a reminder that it’s now dead.
