A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the view from above, below and around

I saw an Eagle once

majestic

regal in stature

flying higher than heaven

I saw a country once

tragic

represented by that same Eagle

wings torn and tattered

the ground closer than

it appeared in the mirror

Yes, our country is torn and tattered. We need some semblance of unity in the House and Senate. We need a strong leader as well. Our Democracy is crumbling. Lydi**

Perhaps you see the USA like I see the UK, in decline. Wrecked by self serving politicians. I no longer recognize the city I was born in. I have no desire to return there. There is nothing familiar. This poem played with my heartstrings. I thought of my forebears and I am pleased they no longer see as I have to see.
