the shameful taming of an entity

the shameful taming of an entity

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the shameful taming of an entity

the day that e.e.

walked into AA

heads turned in sync

the rebel poet

swallowed one too many syllables

threw tantrums in just spring

paved the streets with crazy word play

got arrested for ignoring capitalization

wouldn't even say his name with them

agreed to rehab

but still snuck poems into  his pocket

the playful side of him staying secret

his pen, the weapon he brought into court

his fingers caressing it as he heard his sentence

which he immediately wanted to abort

break to bits

not a violent man

just a rebel poet

who wanted to do his own justice

to the words he wrote

punctuate his sentence

like an assailant on the lam

catch my poetry

if the cuffs will fit

link to blessed ink

the day e.e.

walked into AA

heads turned in sync

now he sits in stupor

the cummings and goings of life

all around him

the words only a lower case memory.

You are very kind, NormaZ,
thank you.

He was a maverick but, aren't we all. You my friend get to sit up there with him. No other on this site or any I have visited in the past has your style and feel. You Jacob are unique with your art and I am sure, (just guessing of course) that even if one came along and said, "Sir, you aren't doing that right. There isn't a defined structure or rhythm to your lines and that is not proper poetry" you would thank them for their time and go on doing things exactly the way you always have, in your own unique way. This poem is no different except it is completely different. Very cool my friend.

I didn't realise ee Cummings went to AA? Maybe I have this one wrong but he was a rebel and was even interned in France for espionage. Whatever your poem is as always crisply descriptive and filed with detail.
