Thirty-some years later

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Thirty-some years later

a close up,
conversation in your eyes
and love

we have history
and geography

and maybe our own kind of religion
a spiritual melding of hearts
I married you once

then the ring tarnished
but love never vanished

now two aged hands
touch to the beat
of a Moondance

the retrospective
becoming.

knowing that now
we really are truth.

really beautiful and bittersweet. "and maybe our own kind of religion" i love this sentiment, when you love someone and live your lives together, it's like inventing a new language and something that feels larger than life itself.

Very nice Jacob. Seems hard to stay that way for thirty years.

Winston
perhaps years are required before the realization comes that "we are truth" "retrospective" - an exhibition or compilation showing the development of the work of a particular artist over a period of time. Beautiful use of this word as a noun. this kind of relationship is in truth a work of art and homage to the co-artist -carl

Wonderful poem, but I am in love with the lines, "a close up,
conversation in your eyes and love" so true and moving if you are lucky enough to experience it!

"now two aged hands touch to the beat of a moondance". Oh how I love a moondance. This is a keeper Jacob. Lovely! :) Julie

Beautiful, I marvel at the sentiment expressed here. Healing has taken place and the love like a fountain is in wonderful flow. Gorgeous poetry. Lifts my spirit today J.

Ohhh I love it, I adore it! And yes, two people long term such as this develop their own religion. No poet such as you, my friend.
