Wordslinger (a slow draw)

Wordslinger (a slow draw)

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Wordslinger (a slow draw)

in the saloon

stands a half-filled mug

and a jammed typewriter

on the street

lies a man

with a lead-filled heart.

High Noon & the heat is on, yet
the words are stubborn ..refusing
to cooperate.. perhaps another
round_up of beer.in cool mugs
.great metaphor laced within the lines ..

Thank you, Jim...
Such great imagery here. With so few words you were able to paint such a scene.
Even the title says a great deal.
What a tragic end for the wordslinger. Unless, of corse, lead can still pump through his veins.
I loved reading this. Thank you!

The man is exhausted. His heart is whispering. for smooth take off. Good poem 😂

better reply...I like what you wrote, thank you, Arundass.

Well, a lead filled heart won't let the x-rays through. So we may never know if it was broken or not. But his jammed typewriter seems to be his end. At least he finished half his mug before the showdown. I enjoyed the read.

thanks for your lively response, I thought I had on my bullet proof vest...but Oops!
I can't say better than W. Barrett Munn below: "It requires heart to write; otherwise, when you open a vein nothing spills out."

When the words refuse to be typed, the poet is the bullseye! Drink a little more from that mug to break the logjam! Talk about great metaphors! Lydi**

A picture of the Wildwest; at least it was a straight shooter.
Can we go ahead and offer condolences?
