I get excited whenever I learn a new word. It encourages me to use it in a sentence, or better yet, a poem. Another venue I posted at years ago would have these writing exercises, where they would give us a list of ten words, and we would have to write a poem that included all of them. Oh, and there was usually a word limit to the length the poem had to be. It's good to challenge ourselves. I think it helps to keep us young!

Yes, a good challenge. Thank you for YOUR words, Kelly,

Plain old nickel and dime words still have value...even if "vocabularianism" is lurking 'round the corner of the field. Give me easy to understand words. I know the fancy ones, but the plain and simple language gets the point across beautifully. Lydi**

Nothing more off putting than to have to frequently use a thesaurus or dictionary to try to decipher some meaning in a piece of poetry. I lack patience.
I like simple and clear.
That’s where you took me dear J.
