a dam of inconvenience

a dam of inconvenience

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a dam of inconvenience

projected whereabouts

a shallow grave

for a shallow heart

be silent,

the earthen sod

will still cover

but when the rain

of all the tears of pain

you caused, comes calling

you will wash away

with the others

like you.

dear Jacob... the shallow Grave is haunting... leaving us to ponder the deep blue Sea and the eternal blue Sky... we are left with withering Grapes on the Vine... Be still and sigh... softly, Pat

Maybe they are the Grapes of Wrath...
thank you, Pat

Dame of inconvenience? The shallow grave is there to bury a shallow heart, while we reserve an elaborate internment for those of more profound nature. Yet shallowness can sting as deeply, and the need to meliorate the pain is as great. The tears of pain suggest years of pain: internal rhyme, alliteration and the use of caesura are all expertly handled to achieve what poetry can do at its best.

Powerful imagery here J and the emotional impact more so. Your final two stanzas amazing. A terrific poem.
