You are right Jacob. Our pillows and our blankets could tell haunting tales. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Endings are often not what we hoped they would be...our expectations ruin everything. Resting one's head....sometimes easier said than done. I like the metaphor here. Lydi**
The ending is sometimes satisfying, sometimes not. I think much depends on our expectations, whether from a novel, a poem, a movie or a relationship. I'm a sucker for a happy ending myself. I don't like the movies that leave the observer hanging to form their own conclusions. I think it's safe to say I want joyful gratification.

Reminds me of a discussion I had with Ken when I was complaining about an ending I wrote that I didn't much like. He said, put it away and the ending will come to you. A few days later, it did. A few weeks after that, it was accepted for publication.
So much wisdom in this poem. Signed,
