from a barn swallow's point- of- view

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

from a barn swallow's point- of- view

cocktails and sparrows' nests

high in the air

beaks rise

glasses tip

the flock is tipsy

flying backwards into stilted conversation

the martinis extra dry

the flapping of lips

it's a small world

within the crevasses

of those fancy glasses

and napkins of superior expression.

Looking down on all those who look down on everyone else is certainly in the province of birds.

I think the barn swallow has excellent insight. I see much height in this piece and superiority. A visual write J.
