the artist's signature

little house

still

like a painting of orchids

purplish, whitish

skittish when the wind salutes

in rhythmic pose

and yet holding strong

in tapered board

the house withstands

the flowers recycle

gardens implode

then rest

when frost enters the perimeter

the painting smears.

A lovely portrayal of a house which withstands all the elements but gets a bit weary when frost comes around, we have so many of those up in the mountains...they appear that if you were to blow hard they would fall, but somehow they withstand all the seasons, though they get weak in frost...your images are vivid and the writing is soft and mimics a perfect canvas.

I did like the above lines. A writer, a poet and the musician. Wild and unkept places. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You are always welcome, Jacob.
There is tenderness here, a longing and looking back. The image of gardens imploding then resting is just beautiful. Through it all, the house still stands. The frost of winter may smear the edges, but the memory is ever clear. I like the soft side of your pen.

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder
This reminds me of when my partner who paints stopped to take pic of an old broken down semi abandoned original house and all around is a new suburb being built
He felt the history the love
Yes he painted it and yes
Embellished it a bit with gardens and a dog. It’s now a perfect painting
Your poem reminded me of this loved that write Jacob

How incredible that a poet's pen, an artist's brush, a heart full of love and teary eyes that see through the screen of affection can transform an ordinary house into an extraordinary and enduring home.

This is a beautiful piece J. It took me to many places. The house represents security and safety. It is there throughout the seasons of flowers and will always be there. I felt I was looking at a painting on a wall. The house to me feels like a mother’s love. Always keeping an eye out from wherever, this world or the next. And when the painting smears in the frosts, that is your mother’s tears telling you she understands. Exquisite piece.
