Sunday at the State Hospital II

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Sunday at the State Hospital II

I visited David Ignatow

at the state hospital

he had no sandwich,

and I wasn't allowed

to light my cigarette

so we just stared into

each other's poems.

A wonderful situation described Jacob. Sometime, all we have is the poetry and story. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

thank you, Julie,

Poetry can be such a powerful connection, nothing else is required. A little bit of brevity which has a huge impact. Thank you J.

Thank you, my friend,
j.
Loved how the second stanza
suspended disbelief.
Transporting us to kindred spirits.
Like I always say, poetry brings us
close as possible to language.
I love fly on the wall pov.

I did not know you knew each other; what an honor! I love how you placed the value on friendship and poetry, not the menial things.

Wow! You are welcome sir Jacob
Jacob I often read too much into poems but this one hit me immediately with feelings of constraint, my feelings of rebellion and response with poetry. So short a piece with so much meaning but maybe it was just me projecting.
