Shadows Entwined

Shadows Entwined

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Shadows Entwined

you were a lovely departure

from my previous reality

a soul in flux with mine

abhorrent likenesses

became perfect adherences

affixed to each other

like priceless stamps

to ordinary envelopes

we loved from world's apart

but found words enclosed within hearts

to be written

in approximate ink.

I like the term "previous reality" because it implies that our grasp of things changes with our understanding of them. But what was the revelation here? The postage was more than enough to deliver but some things get lost in the mail. There are some who save old love letters and some who burn them on bridges to places they don't wish to return. I enjoyed the read.

I save them...
why is understanding so hard?

Implying that you have now moved on is perhaps that the ink never was deep enough to make a lasting impression Jacob

maybe not...I think you have something there, Stella.

Erin,
Approximate ink, indeed! The ONLY writing that isn't approsimate are poems, as you illustrate so well.

Has the sound of two rebounders who found each other for the wrong reasons. "We loved from worlds apart" tells the tale. Loved the stamps and envelopes imagery.

Seems like your previous love was not as wonderful as this one; though you're worlds apart your hearts are entwined as one....but your letters, though stamped may never have reached either of you...nevertheless the relationship exists from far away....even though the letter were lost...and we don't know why....

How time changes almost everything, but nothing ever seems to change-loved this line most "affixed to each other

like priceless stamps

to ordinary envelopes

we loved from world's apart"

~ This was so beautiful to read, dear Jacob. It made me feel ordinary people can have extraordinary love.

How I saw this is finding someone at periods of our lives when we or they can’t act for one reason or another.

Good morning from early here in Spain,
What a lovely poem to read..... now back to writing after a long time... Not only did I break my clavicle but also 3 ribs... So the pain and pain pills kept me from going onto my computer...
Now off the pills with not so much pain I am back.
Your poem..with so much hidden meaning is wonderful Even if in love people differ (worlds) apart they can still feel love...
