I'm a recovering catholic and agree with you and with Will. God is everywhere, well maybe not in these monolithic, super money, worship with your wallet churches. I don't think the move awY from religion has helped our society at all.

No we have moved away from the real meaning of religion...He is everywhere...and I love that term "recovering Catholic"!
Just remember, "The walrus was Paul."
Funny how the collection plate used to be lined with quarters and dimes until they (you know, those) decided they needed more and the lowly extended hand became a contract for a certain amount so that the Holy Financial Statement would be something to be proud of.
To me, you don't need a church and you don't need to give money to God (what would he use it for anyway) to believe in what you believe. That is just me,.. I became disillusioned many years ago with organized religion when a tragedy hit our small town and me deeply and all the church cared about was how they looked through it all. Sad.

Your story is one of too many like it, will.
How they look...too important.
And God doesn't need that building on Sundays...
he is around, everywhere.
thank you

As you said, "when the book closes
the chapters trapped within
and all that belief
just a book mark
waiting for faith to read the next gospel...''
I personally believe, there are some chapters in the book of life which even turned, alive within our hearts, and can never erased.
To believe or not to believe...I think most people question their religion at some point in their adult lives. Is there a heaven where we will once again see our loved ones? Certainly a comforting thought, but one I do not hold. I hope I will be proven wrong one day. Lots of questions and anger in this one. Lydi**

My thoughts were drawn to the bad stuff in religion. Regretfully all those abused kids and the poor girls who had illegitimate babies taken from them, by those who thought themselves closer to heaven and yet showed no compassion. Organised religion and me, don’t mix any more.

I appreciate your words,

I wonder if this one will appear on the index of banned poems, if the RC church still maintains that kind of things. There is nothing more bitter than a disillusioned true believer. Grounded Catholics? My one time Protestant self didn't even know the Pope had an air force.

Yes we will Jacob.

I do like the above lines. With death, we can't complain no-more. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
