everything by two's

everything by two's

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

everything by two's

old couple driving an Edsel

won't last long,

the Model is dying out

only a couple years old

a chrome coffin

heavy as a rain cloud

idling in God's garage

he will take it out for a spin

and the world will drown

the Edsel is too heavy to float

but he will pick the couple up

in an Angel's wings

the meter is running

Noah never knew what a car was

but he could turn the ignition on an ark

and save the world

should we float down the highway together

if we pass that old Edsel

we can wave at the couple

watch them kiss each other on the cheek and laugh

meanwhile that model of love

is no longer being made

so we just drive across the sky

in some modern rental

that has bucket seats

and no room for animals in the back.

i think the point being made is that the old style of intimacy is dated, like the Edsel. As to Noah, I think the modern animal rights movement would brand him a collector/hoarder of animals.

Oh I imagine they would brand him that.

Back in the day when things were built to last and updating your status meant you were still married or a widow.
Even the animals went in two by two and not a one wrote "it's complicated." It's only complicated because we make it that way. Maybe we should all just realise that the world worked just fine for millenia offline, but now that we're used to it, maybe we won't survive whatever fresh hell unplug it!
And maybe that Edsel will outrun us all! 😊

'meanwhile that model of love
is no longer being made'
You can say that again. Love is not a long term item anymore. Those "vintage" relationships are now a thing of the past and sadly it appears. always will be. Someday that era will come to an end and not long after that, be completely forgotten.

Everything by two’s. Noah started it all off with his ark to ensure that after the flood there would be life. Not everything comes in twos these days. Times have changed and certainly, relationships aren’t all happy ever afters. I quite like twos. It works for me, though not a model for everyone dear J.

Two can be nice sometimes Jacob. I have five grandchildren. Car must be bigger. I enjoyed the poetry. I liked the old cars. They seemed more home. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.
