No matter how many pawns are sacrificed, there will be always someone who will profit out of it and those people are never put in danger. The old adage “ Do as I say not as I do.

Powerful and worthwhile poetry Jacob.
"sometimes,
remembering sanity
remembering the explosion of war
through a slightly open border"
I body bags many in Bosnian, Africa and Iraq. They were silence. I did pray for them. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Such a clever use of language and metaphor to make such a poignant point. I loved this piece. The United States was founded on the idea of immigration, ask the Indian, but at a minimum it needs to be controlled. But beyond this the poem itself was ingenious.
I've always wondered why countries stop putting their citizens through this hell, wouldn't it be a better thing for everyone involved, to save the cost to the taxpayers they ask to fight for them, if the leaders just fought to the death instead? Maybe then they'd stop mouthing off so loudly and acting like the bully at school.
It would certainly cut down on all the lives ended, or maimed, plus, if I were American I would certainly be voting for trump next time, just to see if he can actually shut that stupid mouth of his. 😊

An awesome take on drafts, the rfalse reasons given to the populace, the invasion of other countries and privacy, the form of eruption and persuasion, legalized murder of the innocents and the profiteering of big corporations.
I buy all you had said marvelously.
dear Jacob.. we have often tried to keep Communism from invading our Country… will we ever learn the best way to do so… too soon.. too late… now we have a situation that is involved in our Politics and the Politicians only want to protect their wealth and their families… not necessarily the millions of “we the people”. So much damage has been done to our Country. Silently… Pat 🔕
Jacob, you've turned metaphors, emotions and the planet ruler's obsession with 'what games shall we play today' on their butts. That window deserves to be bolted, barred and boarded up. Perhaps obscurity is the answer to mayhem. Who says we should vote for those who excel in over-abundant power - ' the pain of a window - that never should have been - open. You never fail to influence my way of thinking.. of how deeply to think.
We have here a clever play on words (I know I'm only pointing out the obvious, but it does deserve recognition :))
"remember what it's like to be whole" - maybe that's the problem. maybe this Pandora's box, this "window" won't be shut until we as individuals, each one of us, succeed in making ourselves whole. Then, conflict must inevitably disappear from the world.
