so many things

so many things

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

so many things

love is a fixture,

a knick-knack in bloom

a conversation piece

when shattered,

swept up into a cloud of yesterday's

tears ready to storm

replaced with a rebound

from the pawn shop

of close ties

none that match the suits

worn after the stain of heartbreak

makes them unwearable

You are on a roll! Love and heartbreak....two emotions almost everyone can understand. Do we ever "wear" the same emotions again? I don't think so. Every relationship has new mechanics....new feelings. The "stain of heartbreak" does not come out in the wash, does it? Good one! Lydi**

Well, nothing seems to fit or match after a good shattering. On the other hand, Zelensky seem to get by with fatigues and olive drab tee shirts. It could be worse.

I am sure it could be, John...
sure it could...
Thank you,

Seems that memories are like a carousel, they come and go, go and come then leave a discordant emotion grinding away. Your final rips at the heart, sir; you turn a trio of words into passion or -its opposite. As ever you touch one or more sense of being human

'.. replaced with a rebound - from the pawn shop - of close ties ' . Is it really that easy, jacob, or.. ?

That wretched 'or' is a killer, sir! Am learning more about human nature than poetry on this site, j.. read more
Never thought of love in terms of 'things' This was a brilliant thought, my friend. The concluding lines are so moving. After reading this, I visualized heartbreak as a string of pearls breaking and scattering on the floor, each pristine pearl bouncing up and down, helterskelter in pain. Kudos!

dear Jacob… Pawn Shops hold many Rings with Memories. They remain as beautiful as when they were discovered. If only Love Affairs were worn again to experience their Beauty once more. Je t’ adore… my friend with Metaphors.. I need to study French to spell correctly. as ever, Pat

Love is like an egg these days once it cracks the love is gone or at least left scrabbled.

My fave verse above

We can either superglue it in morning or toss it

Loved it Jacob

You are welcome 🙏 Jacob
This metaphor works so well and was so well expressed in so few lines. I loved the lines
"when shattered,
swept up into a cloud of yesterday's
tears ready to storm" as well as
"none that match the suits
worn after the stain of heartbreak
makes them unwearable"
A very nice piece that will remain as one of my favorites Jacob.
