Holstering Sundown

Holstering Sundown

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Holstering Sundown

conscientious vagabond

lifeless flirt

women smile and he collapses

into yesterday's subconscious

he remembers one in particular

and then trips over his own response

a red faced nomad

feels love is his antagonist

and he, the protagonist

with whom no reader could identify

she wasn't the bad guy in the black dress

and he wasn't wearing a white hat

since, there has been a posse

of many faces, many hearts

but he is already face down on the street

dead before he can draw

his own smile.

I’m pretty certain love is an antagonist and we are empty chambers in a pistol.

Oh wow, I like that..."we are empty chambers" yes.
When we think of love we are always to quick to "draw" blame to go along with it. They rarely are the bad guys or gals, just didn't have the ending one expected from the other.
C'est la vie, I wonder if any French person ever says.

Yes, love, blame, jealousy, hate...
thank you, Lorry,

Oh wow, we both wrote on similar themes today! We all remember "the one" even if that one has no clue who we were anymore. I liked "the bad guy in the black dress"....you really do paint a picture with your words. Lydi**

no problem Blondie. You'll have to forgive me - I was at the dentist getting my gold tooth fixed.
