a different kind of running

a different kind of running

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a different kind of running

it's a fine day in the mountains

the sun skimming off the trailer top

inside a bride waits to take her first steps

down the aisle of reconciliation

but then, she somehow becomes

wrought with indifference

he lives far away where his feelings

have become a flatland

the flat line evidenced by

not much rain,

no tears

the empathy turned sympathy

turned apathy

it's a fine day in the mountains

for some,

others find it a prison

regardless of

the weather's temperament

I suppose there is running for or running to but sadly there is running away as well. Something things like a marathon last and some like a sprint, do not. Very creative my friend.

Running away...I got good at that once...and it was for 20 years.

I related your words to long distance relationships but also all relationships that may become wrought with apathy, over time. So much that they can become prisons for some. Free mountain air cannot compensate for mental peace or burdens of doubt, guilt and pain. In this case, the indifference is on both sides and that is a fatal combination.

yes, it is on both sides...and harsher when it's kin.

Indeed, my friend. Poets think differently, they can perceive depth better, appreciate the symbolism.. read more
Contrasts again dear J. Mountains and flatlands. Apathy and indifference become killers in a relationship. No chance of reconciliation while those two are headlining. It may be a fine day in the mountains, but clearly not for everyone. Strong piece J.

I appreciate you, Chris,
j.
Brings to mind and heart such stark contrasts, a 'never the twain shall meet' kind which can kill any advance toward reconciliation; the mountainous and the flat, of sympathy and apathy, the weather and the constriction... and perhaps a dash of my present state of mind and heart. A powerful read j. More than a simple and momentary pleasure in its baring of this reader's soul.

Jacob,
"not much rain,
no tears
the empathy turned sympathy
turned apathy" how true and familiar....vivid imaginary! Love it!

Thank you, Alla,
j.
The resort for some turned into a prison for others; such a sad but realistic turn of events in the twain lives. Some climb obstacles to the summit and some just walk away on a flat land.
