Two Drifters

Two Drifters

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Two Drifters

invert the love poem

reverse the feelings

stone cold collaboration

heart and pen

the page is lavender

but the ink frozen

into black ice.

Is the ink the love that’s gone frozen on the lavender pretty stationary
That stationery was the romance the love affair the newness of the romance
Maybe we just need pink glasses and a cup of pink lemonade will that fix it the romance
Probably not

Enjoyed this one Jacob
Ps I love the song too

That’s good
I haven’t had it since my kids small
I understand the meaning of your poem though I do not understand why it becomes like that. The way I see a relationship and love is...it almost always starts out with a friendship and evolves into something more. When it end, why can't it just evolve back into the friendship it once was? The friend part worked great, the love part, not so much. Though this "ink frozen into black ice" I have seen on here before. It definitely brings a chill.

,,," off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me

and I love this poem for obvious reasons..two drifters indeed.

what will you be wearing
Fascinating and imaginative way to describe the hardening that occurs when love turns to resentment.

"reverse the feelings"
Black ink frozen in ice. Texture and smell. I really like this.

thank you, duff,

Black ice felt so uncomfortable and so inhospitable. There are no redeeming features to it. I hope the ink thaws soon and sheds it blackness. I wish you more lavenders and minimal blacks, always.

This is pretty much how I feel whenever asked to collaborate with someone on a write.
My ink freezes into black ice at the thought and the collab always ends up on a stone cold slab.
Perhaps some of us are just not meant to share 😊

When I walk down our red brick path of Lavender blue...
I stumble and fall ... now I am black and blue...
forever true blue when dew becomes the essence of you...

Thank you Jacob…. Pat
Lavender and black ice. What a contrast J. The former, gifting summer, sweet smelling and alive with honey bees. The latter a car crash in cruel winter. The world is full of opposites. Light and dark.Warm and cold. We need both. In this piece of brevity there was a strong pull on the emotions.
