4 antonyms playing pallbearers

4 antonyms playing pallbearers

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

4 antonyms playing pallbearers
my thesaurus died,
and left me with only one word for everything
that has words to describe
poetry to show
I love poetry
I love synonyms
I want vocabulary resurrected
among thieves
who killed language
by choking it off to second grade level
poets look for those missing children
my thesaurus died
only three sentences
came to the funeral.

Quite an ending here. And I, too, love synonyms - and antonyms. Enjoyed your poem, Jacob.

appreciate your kind words, Andrew,

Am I aloud to right a review for this won Jacob? Seeing as how I have been knowing to murderate langwidge! 😊
My thesaurus committed suicide. It just couldn't keep up with my need to make up words instead of reading it.
It asked for no one to be in attendance, but that may have just been for my benefit. 😊

You should have fed your thesaurus sweets. I've heard they enjoy a tasty synonym roll now and then. Those antonyms are always so disagreeable; no matter what you say they are always trying to say just the opposite. I'm building a home for retired homonyms where everyone answers to almost the same name. It makes it easier at roll call. I enjoyed the read.

I will probably end up in that home for homonyms sooner rather than later.

My old thesaurus is gathering dust. No longer thumbed through because it is quicker to research on the internet. The pages were loose and falling out anyway. I pondered on all the people I know to ascertain their likelihood of even googling. Sadly only writers would go there. Another case of slipping standards.
This poem feels kind of lonely. Like saying goodbye to an old friend.

What an indictment of current (low) levels of sophistication! What often makes me wonder is how it was possible for great men of old to be not only statesmen, scientists, inventors, or soldiers, but also poets, or dramatists. Imagine one of the world leaders today doing anything artistic - it's almost comical.

I share your sentiments about the decline of linguistic nuance, and I watch apprehensively as ever faster technological progress seems to be negatively correlated with progress on the "being human front."

It was at this point Lewis Carrol invented his own language. As long as we have internet and Google, we will never again need-or....well, I need another word for....

great, as in poem.

The thesaurus died because language was killed off. There was little point after that. The poets look for the missing children but there seems little remorse as only three sentences came to the funeral. The thesaurus will not be missed.

It hardly makes any difference, my friend. I hope you have been well.
Oh goodness, this made me smile and then laugh out loud.
I remember when I first started posting you mentioned your connection to your tattered thesaurus.
I found it interesting that you still referred to your book. I remembering thinking how many of us use Google, for just about everything.
AHH, yes..words... goodness what is happening to words and their correct usage! Even the pronunciation has became strange...
And, what were the three sentences...pray tell?
I just loved it and I write my review your words continue to reappear!!
