my heart is afloat

in some medical journal

explaining love in its degrees

 

like the ones I never got from school

diplomas for poems

expressive but clinical

a Work Cited of attempts

 

happiness just might be that warm gun

Mr. Lennon spoke of

just might be at that

or maybe that uptown maiden

could be fair enough

to be cited

within a text of compassion

 

as a lonely scholar

reads empty sheets

in his vernacular

and professes his loves never failed

 

he just never handed them in

for credit.

Musical references here J. Billy Joel and John Lennon. I like them both. There is no text book or qualification which can teach how to love. Love is love and it comes in all shapes and sizes. Not only that you don’t have much control over it anyway. Your heart usually ends up by ruling your head. When it comes to love, you just get on with it and do your best . Sometimes you get it right, other times not. That’s where I drifted J.

That not only applies to education, bur to emotions. To learning how to love, what's involved, does it have to mean this or that. Howev er, seems that just as individuals are unique so too is love. Yes?

Jacob having taught college I think that learning is best when not for a grade but for pure desire. I have had students come that were not registered for the class just to learn and they seemed to learn more than those working for a grade. True wise people are not measured by the academic accolades but what is inside as are true lovers.

I, too, try to get my students to not worry about grades, just discussing the relevance of what we are covering and what it means to them.
it works sometimes...but that fear of failing is a dark cloud.

I like the idea of being taught by famous people or sung by them.
