Leonardo

Leonardo

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Leonardo

he is painting in the alleyway

she is his model

wearing an old worn coat

and a worn smile

he can't afford a brush

so he paints with her imagination

of what she wishes to be

Royalty is an avid sketch

the sky above this sheltered street

she wonders where she will find her next meal

he gives her lips a brush stroke

she is grateful for his attention

even if his palette

is bare

and his brushstrokes

only touch a canvas

of air.

Leonardo, a man who used his time as much as he could. That's the kind of human I appreciate. He has left us a huge legacy that few have done such thing. He was the true master of painting, these days we see many cheap paintings expressed by complicated words but they are nothing more than a bullshit.
Enjoyed reading this.

My pleasure sir.
I always wondered why Mona Lisa was smiling. Now I know it was in appreciation of Leonardo's attention. In this version, he doesn't have much else to give.

Two poor souls, both poor ( maybe just an illusion) she a homeless creature who would love to be Royalty... and so the two imagine what that would be like, but it never goes on canvas.....this is so imaginative that I guess it could be interpreted in many way... excellent imagery; I could see it in my mind's whether real or imagined...

Jacob,

I found this piece of your heart & mind set to pen of page to be most imaginatively & panoramically filled with wonderful imagery that sets the mind ablaze as one can almost visually envision the scene's scenario that you have excellently painted to page right before your reader's eyes ... Excellent work!

For me this beautiful poem speaks of imagination and creativity. No matter the circumstances a good imagination can give you wings to fly. Poverty is not a barrier to that. The he here, whether painter or poet can portray her as royalty even though she wonders when she will eat next.

Thank you, Kelly!
Proof, if it were needed that at least we can all afford an imagination and the simplest joys in life are free for all to do so with as they please.
Perhaps this could be a new poetry motto... Be creative with your imagination and unleash it!
Hmm, perhaps without the exclamation mark though, as it sounds like a threat 😊
You would have made a great joiner Jacob, with all the nail right on the head you do. 😊

Magical, mystic, imaginative words.. visual as can be, worth two reads.. perhaps a third. Clouds drift down between nose to nose walls, the light varies but the artist never frowns, he knows how not to. His model folds her coat tighter about her body.

Such a superb visual, jacob.. forgive me. Please delete my excess,
