I get the impression that in those Saturday confessions, the repentance was not entirely sincere. There may even have been some backsliding later. You can't have too many ego te absolvos.

How did you know that...?
Guess I did not get away with my insincerity...
It's a shame 'they' made us feel guilty about it, but then again, it is that which makes it all so special ..
And no one's the wiser..

I promise I won't tell a soul...
thank you, W.M....
I must say that this piece is wonderfully reminiscent of teenage youth and young adulthood ... Magical in its essence of drawing both heart and mind back in time ...

dear Jacob.. we were meant to knell and

Adolescent love. Doing stuff you knew parents and church wouldn’t approve of. Keeping it secret but feeling good about it. I saw those knowing smiles looking at each other in the pew. All part of growing up and how exciting it was. Delightful content here J. Gives a warm glow to similar memories.
a love journey in the cove, something you would never confess in church because kids these were too young, just mere adolescents sneaking around, without their parents permission, sorry not allowed..." a communion of bodies" a perfect phrase for this scenario....keep everything on the hush....
Very clever J.
Best, B
Adolescence is such a journey. Exciting, overwhelming too perhaps. Between the cove and the breeze and then the pew, the heart lurched so many times. Those secrets seemed so big in those days. As if one had conquered the moon.
