A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

blot

too many erasers

never allow a poem

to be written,

we would love to let the ink dry

in cursive apropos

because the spirit of the pen

is thoughtful remorse

but we don't want

to be sorry for our vocabulary

we just want to get to the end of a line

without smearing our brain

all over the page.

No luck. My leaky brains drips all over the line dancing two stepping sons of a gun…see?

I like that analogy....
we just want to get to the end of a line
without smearing our brain
all over the page.

They were my favourite lines
Loved this one ☝️

Thank you and Happy Easter, Julie,

Sometimes poetry can be such hard work. Yes it can be painful to get to the end of a line. It doesn’t always flow easily. Your first three lines resonated. Sometimes the words are drip fed. Blot blemish erase. There are alot of if onlys with poetry. A poet’s write J and an excelente one.

Dear Jacob,

Indeed...

"without smearing our brain
all over the page."

~ Loved the line and am in whopping agreement. Getting to the end of the line should not be this painful. Need to let go of that erasure and in my case, the backspace key.

If only we'd let the ink dry. Brilliant!

Its a pleasure, my friend.
That sounds about right. I can't tell you how many times I was inspired, I wrote and then when it asked if I wanted to save it I said...nah.
